Viewdini - can get video out of anything

By PETER WHITE

Verizon has created Viewdini, which it describes as a mobile video portal and it can come with content from its own FiOS TV platform, from Comcast Xfinity services, as well as Netflix, Hulu Plus and mobile content provider mSpot.

The idea is that it lets you watch these services if you are a subscriber, and allows you to search them if you are not and discover ways of acquiring them. In a single service introduction the company becomes a reseller for these services, for individual pieces of content, and a delivery partner. Delivery is over its much lauded LTE network in the form of simple streaming.

"Verizon Wireless has the network to deliver the video choices our customers want with the quality and speed customers demand," said Dan Mead, president and CEO of Verizon Wireless. "Working with a wide range of providers, we're giving our customers a simple and intuitive way to find shows, movies and other videos from the sources they have relationships with and discover new sources of video as well."

Verizon Wireless made the announcement in Boston at The Cable Show, and said that Viewdini acts as a mobile video aggregator which makes it easy for users to search thousands of titles from some of the Web's leading content providers like it also includes access to TV sites and those of movie studios, and talks about cable operators plural, not just Xfinity.

Viewdini will be available to Verizon Wireless customers with 4G LTE Android devices later this month, with support for other operating systems expected shortly. The application can be downloaded from the Google Play store, and is free to customers.
