TeliaSonera beats Scando rivals on TV

READ MORE:

While Viasat and Telenor in Scandinavia both reported falling pay TV numbers earlier this week, TeliaSonera contradicted these falls, mostly made up of people cancelling satellite TV service, and instead added 251,000 pay TV subs over IPTV numbers since this quarter last year.

TeliaSonera sells IPTV in Scandinavia and the Baltic States, and exercised controlled growth in all TV regions and now has 1.137 million TV homes, up 32,000 (around 3%) in the quarter and 251,000 from a year ago (up some 28%).

The TV subscriptions are split 496,000 in Sweden, 339,000 Finland, just 11,000 in Denmark, where it is still just gathering momentum, In the Baltic states it has 146,000 TV subs in Lithuania and 135,000 in Estonia. Additionally it has a further 202,000 TV subs not counted in this total, in a joint venture in Latvia, up from 153,00 a year ago. The number of broadband homes it has are flat in these regions at 2.45 million.
